Beyond the villages, the wider Ross of Mull rewards slower exploration – with scenic walks, dramatic coastline, and hidden traces of island history. For a deeper connection to the landscape and its stories, the walking guides and exhibitions from the Ross of Mull Historical Centre offer rich insight into past and present life, leading you to ruined settlements, old granite quarries, and miles of wild Atlantic shore.

Around the Island

The landscapes of Mull are as diverse as they are beautiful – an island of mountains and moorland, lochs, waterfalls, woodlands and castles. Pennyghael offers spectacular views to Ben Mor, our highest peak at 3,200 feet. In the north is Tobermory, the largest habitation on Mull, renowned for its colourful harbourside houses around a bay teeming with boats.
As well as the main ferry terminal, Craignure is home to the Victorian castle at Torosay and the historic castle of Duart, seat of the Clan MacLean. Check out Visit Mull and Iona for island tours, events and blogs.
